EGYPT - Jan '08 and Oct '08

Hurghada really has become a bit of a home away from home for us. We always stay at a hotel called the Grand Resort in Hurghada which lies about half way between Cairo and Luxor. When we there in January we went to Cairo and of course the pyramids. It is strange to see something that one is so familiar with from pictures. It was just amazing to see the pyramids and the Sphinx on the Giza plateau. Truly a dream come true. It is a bit strange to look at the Sphinx from the base of the Pyramids and see that there is a Burger King right beside. It just doesn't seem right! When we went back in October we headed south to Luxor, The Nile and of course the Valley of the Kings. Again words fail me when I try and describe the feeling we had walking around the Valley and visiting the graves. The artwork has to be seen to be believed.

A traditional pose in front of the PyramidsLinda in front of the Keops PyramidThe guide we had confirmed that there is indeed an unexplored area underneath the Sphinx. The Egyptian authorities are apparently doing a deal with American TV for rights. One of those just to prove I was there shotsLinda looking a bit windswept on the Giza Plateau
